A little about me...

Born and raised in sunny south Florida, I moved to Tennessee as an angsty sixteen year old in 1993. Although at the time, I was devastated to leave the only place that had ever been my home, I was also taken by the beauty of the lush countryside and intrigued by the changes in the seasons. In the last thirty years of living here, I met and married the love of my life, had two wonderful children, and when we aren't working (which is almost never nowadays lol) we enjoy spending time together, watching old movies or hiking on the miles of beautiful trails that are basically right in our backyard.
My dad was a marine, a fireman and later a fire investigator, while my mom was a teacher and church secretary. Having five children together, they had to run a very tight ship, but they made sure we had everything we needed. One of the greatest things about growing up as their youngest child would have to be all the different generations of art, music and fashion that I was lucky enough to be exposed to. From the old movies my dad enjoyed, the fifties music and bluegrass that my momma loved, to my sisters music and fashion of the seventies and eighties, and even my brother's metal and punk rock. I guess you could say all of it combined with growing up surrounded by the tumultuous heat and beauty of south Florida, has had a lasting impact on my life and has in part molded me into who I am today.
Now, and for most of my adult life I have worked in the legal administrative field which is not exactly how I previously envisioned my future self. However, I have met and worked with some wonderful people along the way. It has been a means of providing economic stability for my family that cannot be underestimated in today's world. But I've always felt like there was something missing in my life. Something else I needed to do!
So about a year ago, I started making beaded bracelets and charm bracelets. The idea actually came from an old jewelry box that once belonged to my grandmother and was left me when she passed away. Inside were some of her favorite pieces of costume jewelry, broaches and pins. It was apparent to me that she had loved jewelry and fashion and, by extension it became a love of mine as well. Unfortunately, over the years the box would become forgotten at the back of my closet only for me to run across it last year. After my rediscovery, this little jewelry box has been a constant source of inspiration for my bracelets, and this shop, although an ongoing work in progress, is a product of that inspiration. Over time, if all goes well (crossing fingers) I hope to expand into offering more vintage items, as that is something near and dear to my heart....but more on that in future blog posts.
